CARTA DOS JARDINS HISTÓRICOS
ICOMOS, 1981
O Comité Internacional dos Jardins Históricos do ICOMOS-IFLA reunido em Florença em 21 de Maio de 1981 decidiu elaborar uma carta relativa à salvaguarda dos jardins históricos que assumirá o nome desta cidade. Esta carta foi redigida pelo Comité e registrada pelo ICOMOS em 15 de Dezembro de 1982 como complemento da Carta de Veneza neste domínio particular.
Definições e objetivos
Artigo 1 - Um jardim histórico é uma composição arquitectónica e vegetal que apresenta interesse público dos pontos de vista histórico e artístico. Neste sentido deve ser entendido como monumento.

The ICOMOS-IFLA International Committee for Historic Gardens, meeting in Florence on 21 May 1981, decided to draw up a charter on the preservation of historic gardens which would bear the name of that town. The present
FLORENCE CHARTER
was drafted by the Committee and registered by ICOMOS on 15 December 1982 as an addendum to the Venice Charter covering the specific field concerned.
Definitions and Objectives
Art. 1. An historic garden is an architectural and horticultural composition of interest to the public from the historical or artistic point of view. As such, it is to be considered as a monument.

I. O Real Jardim Botânico em Kew / The Royal Botanic Garden at Kew (2)


O todo é sempre maior que as partes. Contudo, é preciso conhecer as partes para poder chegar ao conhecimento do todo.







O tanque contém 40 variedades diferentes de nenúfares (Nymphaea sp.). Para visitar no Verão, quando as plantas estão em plena floração.

2. The Aquatic Garden.

The whole is always greater than the parts. However, one have to know the parts to get the full knowledge of the whole.



The tank contains 40 different varieties of water-lily (Nymphaea sp.). To visit during summer, when the plants are in full flower.
